Leadership

Leadership

"whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant. And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”
Mark 10:43-45

There is only one King and Head of the church, the only Mediator between God and man, Jesus Christ, who rules in His church by His Word and Spirit. In the New Testament we find King Jesus ruling on His Throne in heaven, and exercising His rule in the church below through the ministry of men called to the offices of pastor, elder and deacon. Such men are called to lead the church, not on their own authority or opinions, but in the authority of God’s Word, the Bible. Therefore, pastors and elders are to lead the church not as dictators or CEOs, but as undershepherds of Christ, caring for His people. Likewise deacons are to be servants, leading the congregation in love and mercy toward our neighbors for the glory of Christ.
